LAFAYETTE, La. -- A 14-year-old Lafayette Middle School special-needs student has been suspended after she allegedly attacked a teacher.
Sgt. Mark Francis of the Lafayette Police Department says the alleged incident occurred Thursday. He says it appears the student went "into an uncontrollable spell due to a medication situation" and hit the teacher when she was being restrained. The teacher was not injured.
School officials say the student has been suspended and will be recommended for expulsion. Francis says the student was not arrested and no charges were filed.
