NEW ORLEANS — I’m a lifelong hunter and a responsible gun owner. I keep my shotguns and deer rifles locked up.
I don’t own an AR-15, because it’s not a hunting weapon. Anyone who hunts deer with an AR-15 is not much of a sportsman. And yes, they can be used to hunt feral hogs, but lately, it seems they’re killing more people than hogs.
America’s on track to have a record number of mass shootings again this year. And here in our own community, gun violence is rampant.
Sadly, it won’t end until Congress starts paying less attention to the NRA and more attention to the vast majority of Americans who want tighter gun laws. If we want change, we have to demand it. Loudly.
