Clancy's commentary: Louisiana ranked worst state to live in

Like most of you, I wouldn't trade Louisiana for Iowa, the number one state, for all the crawfish in Breaux Bridge.

Groucho Marx once said, “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.”

That seems to be Louisiana’s approach to America’s “best” lists, because we always land at the bottom. The latest ranking by U.S. News measured states according to, among other things, health care, education, infrastructure — and state finances.

No wonder we ranked dead last. By the way, state lawmakers are in special session right now, mostly pointing fingers.

Like most of you, I wouldn’t trade Louisiana for Iowa, the number one state, for all the crawfish in Breaux Bridge. On the other hand, the crawfish would taste just as good if our roads, bridges and state finances were in better shape.
