Update: Boil water advisory lifted for West Bank of Jefferson Parish

Boiled, disinfected or bottled water should be used before drinking, ice making, brushing teeth, washing dishes or cooking until further notice.

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — A boil water advisory for the entire West Bank of Jefferson Parish has been lifted and residents can now use the water without boiling or disinfecting.

The Louisiana Department of Health and Jefferson Parish Water Department announced that the advisory was lifted around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The boil water advisory, which was originally issued Tuesday morning, included all of the West Bank of Jefferson Parish except for the City of Gretna and Grand Isle.

The advisory was issued after a loss in water pressure at the treatment plant and distribution system because of work being performed by an outside contractor replacing water valves near Ames and Lapalco boulevards.
