METAIRIE, La. — A deputy was seriously injured and two others were hurt following a vehicle chase that ended in a crash in Jefferson Parish early Wednesday morning.

The crash happened in the early morning hours on the westbound Interstate 10 Service Road near Causeway Boulevard in Metairie. At least one other vehicle was involved in a crash with a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office patrol car.

The sheriff's office said two suspects were arrested immediately after the crash but did not say what charges those individuals would be facing.

A spokesperson for JPSO told The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate that one deputy was taken to University Medical Center and their vitals were stable. Two other deputies were injured while apprehending the two suspects, though their injuries appear to be minor.

The sheriff's office told the newspaper that the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. as deputies were chasing the two individuals in a car when the suspects reportedly lost control and crashed into the JPSO vehicle.

The JPSO did not say what prompted the police chase.
