JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — An unmarked Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office unit with a police dog and firearm inside was stolen in Metairie Thursday night.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, the unmarked police unit is a black, 2014 Ford Explorer. It was stolen around 6 p.m. near the intersection of West Esplanade and Severn in Metairie.
A JPSO spokesperson confirmed that a police K-9 and a firearm were inside the car.
The K-9 officer and the SUV were both found later that night, according to JPSO.
