THIBODAUX, La. — Detectives are searching for those responsible for shooting a woman late Sunday night in Thibodaux, Lafourche Parish Sheriff's officials said.

According to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre, deputies received a call about gunshots and a woman flying in the street on Michelle Place in Thibadaux. 

When law enforcement arrived around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, they found a woman in her 20s, dead with multiple gunshot wounds to her body.

The Sheriff's Office opened a homicide investigation into the incident, from which few details were immediately available, officials said. Police positively identified the victim but were withholding her name as the investigation continued.
