Man dies in Central City motorcycle crash

NEW ORLEANS — A man died in a Central City motorcycle crash Thursday evening, a statement from New Orleans Police Department's Public Affairs Division said.

Around 5:20 p.m., a motorcycle driving on Martin Luther King Boulevard was hit by a car near Magnolia Street.

Police said the motorcycle driver was driving "at a high rate of speed," and he was not wearing a helmet.

The motorcycle driver was taken to a hospital, where he died of injuries from the collision. 

The driver of the car that hit the motorcycle stayed at the scene to speak to police officers.
