ST. CHARLES, La. — The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office says a man was found shot to death inside a car on I-10 West on the Spillway following a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, around 3:30 a.m. deputies received a report of a vehicle crash on the interstate near mile markers 217 and 219.

Once crews were on scene, they found a crashed vehicle with several bullet holes. A man, identified as 26-year-old Lester Borne Jr. of Reserve, was found dead inside the car, the sheriff's office says.

Other occupants of the vehicle were taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

The sheriff's office says they believe there may have been a collision with a white colored vehicle.

I-10 West was closed due to the investigation, with traffic diverted onto I-310, however the interstate is now reopened.

Anyone who may have information on a hit-and-run involving a white vehicle is asked to call the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office at (985)783-1135.
