NEW ORLEANS — Following a WWL-TV report about residents expressing their concerns about the lack of lighting in New Orleans East along the interstate, the Mayor of New Orleans says the city is working on it.
Wednesday, Eyewitness News traveled on the interstate and saw between 510 and Bullard that some lights were working while others were either completely off or partially on. The city finished a project to repair the lights on I-10 and Morrison.
Thursday, Mayor Cantrell tweeted stating the area was lit, however they need more than light bulbs to finish the job and are working to fix the issue.

Residents in the area said the lack of lighting has caused dangerous conditions.
"Serious accidents I mean. Fatalities. I would say maybe off the top of my head, maybe three four, involving massive car pileup as a result of the fog and again, no lighting,” one resident said.
Last year, the city said it repaired 596 lights in New Orleans East.
