Millennials are signing up for 'adulting' classes around the country

The classes teach life skills like cooking and time management.

(NEW ORLEANS) -- Learning how "to adult" is a growing trend across the country, and now millennials are signing up for "adulting" classes teach them life skills.

The classes teach things like cooking, budgeting and time management.

Some experts say that many millennials are behind in basic life skills because an increasing amount have not left their childhood homes.

THe U.S. Census Bureau reports that 34 percent of Americans between 18 and 34 still lived with a parent in 2015. That's compared to 26 percent in 2005.

Chef Kim Calichio teaches these "adulting" classes and says she's suprised the questions she'll get from people in their late 20s.

"I'm always surprised about people not knowing what I think are the simple things as far as knife skills, or flavors that go together," Calichio said.

Besides cooking, one online program called "Adulting School" teaches things like sewing, art appreciation and conflict resolution.
