Firefighters made a grizzly discovery at a vehicle fire in eastern New Orleans. As they were putting out the fire, a body was found in the passenger seat on Jun. 5.
Five says later, the Orleans Parish Coroner's Officer identified the person inside as 20-year-old Devin Diamond.
According to the New Orleans Fire Department, around 4:15 a.m., firefighters went to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Flite Court and Airway Street, off of Downman Road.
The vehicle was parked on the side of the road and the interior was fully engulfed with flamed when crews arrived.
"Upon extinguishment firefighters noticed a body in the front passenger seat. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) was notified immediately. The entire vehicle was searched for other victims with none found," said a statement from the NOFD.
Diamond's death was classified as a homicide as a result of blunt force trauma.
