NOPD: Man shot, killed in Broadmoor

NEW ORLEANS — A man was shot and killed in the Broadmoor neighborhood Monday afternoon, a spokesperson with the New Orleans Police Department said.

The killing happened around 3 p.m. near Walmsley Avenue and South Rendon Street. 

The victim died after he was taken to a hospital, an NOPD spokesperson said. 

Police confirmed the shooting around 3:15 p.m., less than 15 minutes after getting the call.

After the victim died, NOPD detectives began investigating the shooting as a homicide.

"Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive," the spokesperson said. "There are no further details available at this time."

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy and determine an official cause of death. The office will release the victim's name, after notifying the victim's family.
