NEW ORLEANS — A male victim was shot and killed in New Orleans East on Friday night, a spokesperson with the New Orleans Police Department said in a press release.

The victim was shot and killed near Blue Ridge Court and Morrison, the police spokesperson said.

Police went to that area around 9:36 p.m. after getting a call about shots fired. They found the victim lying in the street, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reported the killing around 10:09 p.m. to the local media outlets, but they did know if the victim was an adult or a child.

On Monday, the Orleans Parish coroner identified the victim as 17-year-old Pablo Booker.

NOPD officers have begun a homicide investigation into the killing, the press release said.
