COVINGTON, La. — Authorities say a Covington daycare employee was arrested Saturday after she was accused of child abuse.

The Covington Police Department say 58-year-old Regena Thompson turned herself in to police custody after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on a felony count of cruelty of juveniles.

The police department got a complaint Friday, Feb. 14, of possible child abuse by an employee at Kiddie Kollege Day Car Center located on West 28th Avenue. Police did not release any additional details about the alleged abuse.
