Soon after the tornado hit, firefighters and first responders went door to door, searching the village to make sure they didn't miss anyone that might have been injured.

"I've got to give my first responders big props. They got here very quickly," Miller said. "We're hopeful and believe that we're okay. The damage was pretty much on a street we could pretty much get to and see."

Surveyors with the National Weather Service will be out in the parish Thursday to assess the damage and determine how strong the tornado was when it touched down.
