WATCH: 30th Annual Northshore New Year's race benefits Team Gleason

The Iceman Dip and Dash is "almost like a baptism in the Tchefuncte."

MANDEVILLE, La. — On the first of the year for the past three decades, a local fitness community on the Northshore dares to take a —  usually —  chilly dip.

But with warmer weather to start 2019, the 30th Annual Iceman Dip and Dash wasn't too cold, though it was just as meaningful.

The proceeds of this year's race, hosted at Franco's Athletic Club in Mandeville, benefited Team Gleason and ALS research.

WWL-TV Photographer Brian Lukas met both the original racers and welcomed newcomers on the Northshore on Tuesday.
