Boil water advisory canceled for east bank of Orleans Parish

The boil water order will be in effect until further notice.

NEW ORLEANS – The boil water advisory for the east bank of Orleans Parish has been canceled.

The S&WB lifted the advisory at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.

Water samples from the east bank of Orleans Parish tested negative for contamination.

The advisory was issued for the entire east bank of Orleans Parish Saturday morning, around 7:30 a.m.

Customers who have not used their water supply during the course of this precautionary boil water advisory are advised to flush their internal and external plumbing by running water through their system for several minutes.

According to officials, a power loss to water distribution system pumps 2 and 3 at Claiborne Station caused a loss of power to the water distribution system at 6:22 a.m. Water dropped below 20 psi around 6:42 a.m. and was restored around 6:50 a.m.

The new Water Tower recently put into service held pressure for 20 minutes, but power was not restored in time.
