New Orleans weighs 'Ticket Amnesty Day' for unpaid parking, traffic tickets

The program would offer a 'fresh start' for drivers

Have an unpaid Ne Orleans traffic ticket racking up late fees? You may be able to pay it off without all the added penalties.

According to our partners at The New Orleans Advocate, City Council unanimously passed a resolution Thursday calling for a "Ticket Amnesty Day," giving people an incentive to settle their traffic tickets sooner.

How the process would work is still undecided, but the goal is clear.

“We want residents to get these tickets cleared up. We want people to come into compliance,” Williams said. “We could bring in quite a large figure of revenue to the city while providing our residents with a fresh start when it comes to tickets."
