Three-alarm fire burns Uptown home overnight

Everyone living inside the duplex was safe and accounted for when firefighters arrived at the scene.

NEW ORLEANS -- Firefighters extinguished a three-alarm fire Uptown Tuesday night.

According to NOFD, firefighters were dispatched to the 800 block of Lyons Street at 11:26 p.m. where a duplex was on fire. Authorities say flames were already shooting out of the roof when firefighters arrived.

Everyone living inside the duplex was safe and accounted for when firefighters arrived at the scene. The American Red Cross is helping assist the eight residents who were displaced by the fire.

The fire was officially under control as of 1:42 a.m.

In all, 19 NOFD units carrying 55 fire fighters and support personnel fought the house fire.

No injuries were reported, according to NOFD. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
