Painter finds inspiration at Woolworth's

A symbol of the Civil Rights Movement is still inspiring artists today

When Peaches Records moved to Magazine Street three years ago, they also purchased and preserved a Woolworth's lunch counter.

Woolworth's counters were the site of sit-ins and protests and became a symbol for the Civil Rights Movement.

One local painted is hoping to find inspiration at the 80-year-old lunch counter for a new project for Preservation Hall. Photojournalist Derek Waldrip brings us the story.
