'Possible bomb explosion' in Lakeview draws NOPD, ATF Wednesday night

Authorities say no one was hurt and no property was damaged

NEW ORLEANS — Police and firefighters are investigating a “possible bomb explosion” in Lakeview Wednesday night.

Neighbors tell WWL-TV that they heard a loud “boom” and saw gray smoke in the 900 block of Florida Boulevard around 5:20 p.m. on Feb. 6. No injuries or damage to property were reported.

An ATF agent on the scene said that whatever it explosion was, it wasn’t anything life threatening.

Investigators took some items from the scene before leaving.

This is the latest in a series of mysterious “booms” in the area. Surveillance video from Monday, Feb. 4, shows a flash of light followed by a boom loud enough to set off car alarms.
