Power restored after over 9,000 lost electricity Uptown, Audubon areas Entergy says

At this time, it is unclear what caused the power outage but Entergy says it was not part of today's scheduled power outages.

NEW ORLEANS — Over 9,000 residents in the Audubon, Uptown, and Broadmoor areas started their Monday without electricity.

According to Entergy’s outage map, 9,186 were without power as of 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Power was fully restored to Entergy customers just before noon.

At this time, it is unclear what caused the power outage.

Entergy did have a planned outage scheduled for today and others throughout this week, however, a spokesperson for Entergy New Orleans says this outage is not part of that scheduled outage and Entergy crews are on the scene investigating.

The power outage forced nearby Sophie B. Wright to dismiss students Monday morning.

Outages like this have been too frequent for most customers to tolerate. This comes on top of Entergy adding a $5.50 and $10 recovery fees to repair damage to the grid from hurricanes, Ida, and Zeta.
