NEW ORLEANS -- If you thought Scout Island with its secluded woods and far-reaching trails weren't creepy enough, City Park plans to turn it into a new "fright fest" attraction.

The plans for Scout Island Scream Park were announced Thursday, along with a teaser video featuring a clown skipping through the island.

City Park is teaming up with The Mortuary Haunted Mansion, the easily recognized haunted house on Canal Street near the park. Staff from The Mortuary will be building the sets for the island.

Plans include areas called The Devil’s Swamp, Zombie Combat, Scream Factory, Cirque du Fear Fright Zone, The Horseman’s Fright Zone, Blood Bayou Fright Zone, The Kraken Beer & Spirits Pirate Club, The Paranormal Experience, and carnival rides.

Families with smaller children can visit during earlier hours and take part in the pumpkin patch, hayride and a scare-free kids zone.

Dates in the fall are yet to be announced, but prices range from $13-$79 according to City Park.
