Stolen car pulled from Spillway area, sheriff's office says

After several hours, the vehicle was pulled from the water and it was not occupied.

ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. — A car was pulled from the Spillway area near Norco Wednesday morning, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office says.

According to Sheriff Greg Champagne, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle going into the water off of Airline High way not far from the boat launch.

The sheriff’s office Marine Division and dive team attempted to find the vehicle. Wednesday morning, with the help of Southeast Louisiana Underwater Search and Rescue, divers found the vehicle.

After several hours, the vehicle was pulled from the water and it was not occupied. The sheriff’s office says the vehicle was stolen from a nearby parish and law enforcement there was notified of the discovery.

According to the sheriff’s office, it is believed the vehicle was ditched by whoever stole it. The investigation is ongoing.
