Man ejected from truck after striking trees along I-10 in St. John

The man was driving on I-10 west when he moved into the left lane and lost control of his truck. The truck struck trees along the interstate and the man was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A driver died in a vehicle crash on I-10 west in St. John the Baptist Parish overnight Saturday, Louisiana State Police say.

The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on I-10 west near mile marker 208. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling west on the interstate on I-10 in the right lane at a high rate of speed.

As the truck approached vehicles in the right lane, the driver abruptly moved into the left lane and lost control of the truck.

According to State Police, the truck swerved back to the right and ran off the road, entered the tree line and struck several trees. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Dillon Arabie of Thibodaux, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
