UPDATE: The St. Tammany Humane Society was still looking for foster families for a half dozen rescued pets at their facility Saturday night.
The pets were moved from the Tangipahoa Humane Society when that building began to take on water. The animals are being housed in kennels, which don't give them much room to roam and leave them lacking affection. The Humane Society is also anticipating more animals being brought in Sunday.
According to a release from the St. Tammany Humane Society, their shelter was at capacity already, so staff, volunteers and the Humane Society of Louisiana built a temporary shelter in their play yard.
Food and supplies of any kind can be dropped off at our Covington facility located at 20384 Harrison Ave.
If you can give your time, home, supplies or money toward these animals, a donation page has been set up specifically for disaster relief.
The money will be used to purchase supplies, food and tarps to help these animals in need. The link can be found here: http://weblink.donorperfect.com/disaster_relief
