NEW ORLEANS -- The controversial Liberty Place monument was vandalized sometime over the weekend.
On one side, vandals threw red paint on the monument which sits outside of Canal Place.
On another side of the monument, vandals painted "Take em all down now."
The effort to remove the Liberty Place monument is being handled separately from the three other confederate monuments slated to be removed.
All of those efforts are being challenged in court.
Earlier this year, the three Confederate monuments in question were also vandalized.
New Orleans city leaders and community groups have been working for about two years to remove four Confederate monuments. The Andrew Jackson statue is not on the list, but Take 'Em Down NOLA recently hosted a rally on Sept. 24 calling for the statue's removal and threatening to take it down themselves.
Seven people were arrested during that protest.
