Woman killed during carjacking tried to make N.O. a better place, neighbors say

She was killed after being run over by her own SUV during a carjacking

Neighbors say carjacking victim Jeannot Plessy tried to make New Orleans a better place. Now her family and community are left with a tremendous loss.

"They would feed red beans to the neighbors," Delisa Tate said. "Just great people. No one deserves that. That's awful. Sad, sad story."

Plessy's life came to an end Tuesday night with a violent act in the city she worked so hard to heal. She was struck and killed with her own car in Gentilly after a carjacking turned deadly.

"It's very scary," Tate said. "It's very scary. She had her grandkids with her, just a bad situation all the way around."

Those that knew her are left with an unimaginable loss. Plessy's daughter's church released a statement that reads in part, 'Jeannot was a great woman of God who had recently returned from a time of ministry in Samoa."

A friend on Facebook posted, "Words are not enough to express how deeply sorry we are to hear this tragic news."

It seems Plessy's left an impact on every person she encountered.

"She was a nice person, she really was, I thanked god for her I really did," neighbor Eloise said.

Now her legacy will live on in the people she helped and the lives she changed .
