Looking for Hamilton tickets in New Orleans, buyer beware

To get the real tickets, the Saenger Theatre claims the only verified tickets are from the Saenger box office or Ticketmaster. Season ticket holders for the Broadway series already have their tickets and some of those seats may be posted on the website Stubhub.

If you want to see the hit musical "Hamilton" at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, buyer beware when it comes to scoring tickets.

The Saenger's official Facebook page posted a warning saying, "We're seeing a lot of fake pages and events claiming to have the "last few" tickets for the show. this is not true!"

Hamilton tickets have yet to go on sale in New Orleans and are not expected to do so until about two months before the March 12 opening in New Orleans.

The theater even labeled one supposed ticket seller, allmusicaltickets.info a "fake." The site claims to have the last tickets for Hamilton musical in New Orleans.

That's what concerns Cynthia Albert at the Better Business Bureau.

"Everybody is going to want to see this," Albert said. "With them saying there's only a few tickets left, it could really work."

The popularity of Hamilton has brought out scammers and scalpers just about every where the musical travels and New Orleans is no different.

Michael and Cyneatria Rice were at the Saenger Box office buying tickets for the "Price is Right."

As avid theater goers, they say make sure the site is legitimate before you purchase a ticket from a third party seller.

"This is the society we live in," Michael Rice said. "Unfortunately, you have to be ever so careful of what you're doing right now."

"Everybody works hard for their money," Cyneatria Rice said. "For someone to say they're getting something and look forward to it and be disappointed, it's really sad."

The Saenger post also warns, "Do not buy tickets from any third-party sellers. We cannot verify that what you have purchased is a real ticket, and you will not be allowed entry."

Cynthia Albert at the BB worries some people could get sucked into a ticket scam because of the time of year.

"With the holidays coming up, it can make a nice present, but you want to make sure you purchase the real tickets," Albert said.
