ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — New Orleans Saints fans with pent up emotions after the NFC Championship game can finally release their anger - all for a good cause.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is again teaming up with STARC of Louisiana to collect unwanted Mardi Gras beads at the end Northshore carnival parades. But this year's collection float has "a little something extra."

Sheriff Randy Smith is inviting parade-goers to "take their best shot" at an image of a blindfolded NFL referee on the sheriff's office float.

All of the beads collected will go to the non-profit that serves individuals with developmental disabilities in St. Tammany Parish. STARC members will clean and repackage the unwanted beads and sell them back to float riders.

Parade goers can get their chance to pelt the referee trailer with unwanted beads at the following parades:

  • Krewe of Poseidon Feb. 16 in Slidell
  • Krewe of Pearl River Lions Club Feb. 17 in Pearl River
  • Krewe of Eve Feb. 22 in Mandeville
  • Krewe of Olympia Feb. 23 in Covington
  • Krewe of Dionysus Feb. 24 in Slidell
  • Krewe of Selene March 1 in Slidell
