NEW ORLEANS — Wednesday is a big day for student athletes across the country as it is National Signing Day.

Student athletes will sign their letter of intent and formally announced which school they will be playing for. Students from Destrehan and Hanhville High Schools have announced their plans to attend Mississippi State, Tulane University, Nichols State University, and Alabama.

Many of the students said sports helped them become a better person and also a better student.

While National Signing Day is mostly for football, one gymnast signed Wednesday morning.

WWL-TV Sports Reporter Ricardo LeCompte will be in Amite for announcements from Defensive Tackle Ishmael Sopsher and wide out Devonte Lee. That is coming up on later editions of Eyewitness News.
