GRETNA, La. — 13 rail cars from a train jumped the tracks at Fried Street in Gretna Friday morning, shutting down several streets.
The city of Gretna said that there were no "overturned cars, spillage or injuries."
The cars were carrying grain and none contained hazardous material.
The city anticipates that several streets in the area could be shut down for up to 48 hours. Those streets include: Ocean Avenue, Hamilton Street, Wiedman Street, Romain Street and Richard Street - all between 4th and 1st streets.
