CROWLEY, La. -- The Division III semifinals game between No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 5 Isadore Newman was disrupted Friday night after multiple gunshots were heard in the neighborhood near Gardiner Memorial Stadium in Crowley.
Police responded to what people at the stadium said were between eight and 11 gunshots just after 9 p.m. The field and stands were cleared as a precaution.
Players returned to the field after about 20 minutes, and the game resumed with 11:52 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Pios holding a 48-14 lead.
Notre Dame held on to win 48-21, and will advance to the Dec. 6 championship game in New Orleans.
