New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees can add another piece of hardware to his already-full trophy case: the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards was voted FedEx Air Player of the Week for the second time in 2018.

While Brees breaking that historic record was an achievement in its own right, he also won this award off the vintage play he showed against Washington on Monday Night Football. Brees completed 26 of his 29 passes for 363 yards, scoring three times. The record-breaking throw came against busted coverage, with rookie receiver Tre’Quan Smith catching the pass down the sideline and streaking 62 yards into the end zone.

The other nominees for Week 5 were Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Rivers completed 22 of 27 passes against the Oakland Raiders for 339 yards and two touchdowns, while Watson dropped 375 yards and a score on the Dallas Cowboys while completing 33 of his 44 passes.

Brees was already voted to this award once, back in Week 3 following a 396-yard passing performance against the Atlanta Falcons. He is the first player to win the award twice in 2018, and the first to have a teammate win the corresponding FedEx Ground award – running back Alvin Kamara swept the voting in Week 4. So the Saints have had someone win this recognition three weeks running. It’s a shame they’re on bye in Week 6, or they could keep it going.
