Report: Saints to place 1st round tender on Taysom Hill

What the tender means is that if another team offers a deal to the multi-purpose threat, the Saints would have the right to match the offer or get a 1st round pick.

NEW ORLEANS — ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints intend to place a first round tender on backup quarterback Taysom Hill making it most likely that he will remain with the club.

What the tender means is that if another team offers a deal to the Saints multi-purpose threat, the Saints would have the right to match the offer, or, if they don't match it, they would receive a first round draft pick if they lose Hill.

Schefter reports also that the Saints are expected to re-sign Hill soon anyway.

The club will likely go into the 2020 season with Drew Brees as the starting quarterback but with Hill seeing significantly more snaps in some shape or form.

Hill has played on special teams, at receiver, at running back and at quarterback. This past season he threw, caught and ran for touchdowns and attracted a lot of attention with his play in the team's postseason loss to the Vikings.
