Becoming More Humid Today With Near Record Highs

Humidity is back this weekend with a chance for rain each day

The front that brought us the dry and less humid air will lift north today. This will slowly increase the humidity across SE Louisiana. It will be mostly sunny with a few showers and storms mainly along the coast again today. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s and the heat index 100-105. Tonight will be mostly clear and muggy with lows in the lower 70s north and upper 70s south.

Weekend Outlook: It will be hot and much more humid all weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be partly cloudy with the sea breeze setting off some showers and storms each day. The better day for rain will be on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s and the heat index will be around 105+.

Next Week Outlook: Typical hot and very humid weather for early August is expected all of next week. We will have the sea breeze set off daily scattered thunderstorms with downpours each day. Model hint at a weak upper-level disturbance over us mid-week and that could bring us a better chance for some rain. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s all week.

Eye on the Tropics: The tropics are quiet and I'm not expecting development in the next 5 days.

There are a number of tropical waves coming off Africa. They will be worth watching as the models are trying to develop a few of them over the next few weeks. It is that time of year, the Cabo Verde Season, where we look for storm to develop near the Cabo Verde Islands and track to the west.
