NEW ORLEANS — NOAA released their forecast for the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season on Thursday. 

They forecast a near-normal season with 9-15 named storms, 4-8 hurricanes and 2-4 major hurricanes. The average for a season is 12 named storms, 6 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes. The forecast is based on a weak El Nino, warmer than normal Atlantic water temperatures and an enhanced African monsoon.

The first day of the Atlantic hurricane season is June 1. We will have daily tropical updates for you starting then.
