WWL-TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford

More heat and sun are coming the next few days as high pressure dominates the Southeast.

Look for afternoon high temperatures this week in the low 90s and ‘feel like’ temperatures in the middle 90s. (For reference, our average high right now is 87 and our average low is 70). Morning lows will be in the upper 60s to 70s.

By the end of the week, the ridge of high pressure will finally weaken, and a surface front will pass just to our north. This should allow a few spotty showers or thunderstorms to form mainly in the afternoon Thursday.

That summer-like pattern of heat and spotty afternoon rain will last through the upcoming weekend.

We will kick off the start of hurricane season Saturday with no tropical threats in the Atlantic Basin, so that will be a good thing.
