Street flood advisory in New Orleans until 7:15 p.m.

Storms are quickly developing and they could produce flooding rains.

NEW ORLEANS — The city of New Orleans has issued a street flood advisory until 7:15 p.m. The city reminds residents to not drive through flooded areas.

Earlier in the day there were several severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning on the northshore.

Several inches of rain were reported in Tangipahoa Parish, where the heavy rains and severe storms first struck.

Southeast Louisiana will have a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon as a cold front stalls north of the area and an upper-level wave/disturbance moves across Louisiana.

These factors, including high temperatures in the mid-80s, will set off the storms this afternoon first on the Northshore and then on the Southshore Thursday evening.

Heavy rain is also a concern and we could pick up 1-2" with the storms.
