LAPLACE, La. -- A field trip to New Orleans came to an abrupt halt Friday when two buses carrying students collided.
According to Louisiana State Police, one of the three buses rear-ended another as traffic slowed on I-10 East near Laplace. About 108 students were being carried between the two buses, all ages 16 or 17. Police say 28 of them were taken to the hospital, all with minor injuries.
The students were headed to the WW2 museum, and a @PelicansNBA game for good behavior. Trip will not continue.

East Baton Rouge Parish Schools officials confirmed that Lee Magnet High School students were on a bus at the time of the crash.
The bus' driver, who has not yet been identified, will be cited for careless operation.
