NEW ORLEANS — A vehicle fire on I-10 had the eastbound Bonnet Carre’ Spillway Bridge closed for several hours causing major delays for Friday morning commuters.
The DOTD reported that I-10 Eastbound at mile marker 220 blocked all lanes on I-10 and northbound I-310. Emergency crews were on the scene.
Traffic from the vehicle fire was backed up beginning at Laplace for a couple of hours. Drivers had to use Airline Highway as an alternative route but that too was backed up by traffic being diverted.
Police also directed some traffic past the scene of the fire just to get traffic flowing away from the scene.
