Tim Tebow leads players to volunteer in New Orleans before 2019 Sugar Bowl

More than 100 volunteers gather to fix up Audubon Gentilly Charter School for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Service Project.

A group of college athletes, country music star and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow are in New Orleans to give back one day before the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl.

More than 100 volunteers gathered to fix up the Audubon Gentilly Charter School for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Service Project. The group worked on a number of projects including installing playground and classroom equipment.

Tebow, who has participated in the event before, said he is happy to be in New Orleans and is proud of the college athletes who are giving back.

"That's one of the cool things is bringing people together to do good and help people," Tebow said. "But it's also fun, all of these guys are, and I want to honor them."

Volunteers will be out at the school throughout Monday afternoon. There's a lot of work that needs to be done. They said they plan to install a jungle gym, basketball hoops, paint a trailer mural and build and assemble P.E. equipment.
