1 man killed, 2 women hurt in Algiers shootings separated by one block

The shootings happened about 300 feet apart from one another, NOPD said they heard about them minutes apart from one another Thursday night.

NEW ORLEANS — Separated by one block, one man was killed and two women were hurt during Thursday night shootings in Algiers.

NOPD sent releases about the shootings separately. The department said a man was killed after he was shot multiple times Thursday night on the 3300 block of Memorial Park Drive in Algiers.

"The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene," NOPD said Thursday night. "The call came at 9:02 p.m."

Two minutes later, NOPD said they got a call about two women who had been shot while driving on the 3300 block of Behrman Highway, just 300 feet away from the deadly shooting on Memorial Park Drive.

Police said those two women were shot in the body and brought to the hospital by EMS.

NOPD said on Friday morning that they could not confirm any connection between the two shootings.
