NEW ORLEANS — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office (JPSO) is investigating the death of a female inmate while in their custody.
JPSO officials say the woman was hospitalized after being found unresponsive in her cell at around 7:30 a.m. Friday. She was kept at a hospital for treatment through the night.
JPSO reports that the woman was pronounced dead just after 8:40 Saturday morning.
The woman's identity will be revealed once an autopsy is done. Officials say they don't suspect foul play played a factor in her death.
