Child struck from shots fired at Houma household

According to the Houma Police Department, the family transported the child to a medical facility for treatment.

HOUMA, La. — Numerous gunshots fired at a residence in the 600 block of Duval Street resulted in a 7-year-old being hospitalized after being hit by a bullet while inside the home just after midnight on Monday morning.

According to the Houma Police Department, the family transported the child to a medical facility for treatment.

Medical personnel diagnosed the injuries as non-life threatening and released the child from medical care.

An investigation is ongoing.

Neither a suspect nor motive has been identified at this time.
