Kenner PD welcomes Al Capone, K9 crime-fighting recruit

The police department welcomes their newest four-legged recruit to help solve crimes in Kenner.

KENNER, La. β€” Kenner Police Department welcomes their newest four-legged recruit to help solve crimes in Kenner.

Meet K9 Al Capone! He was sworn in by Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley on Friday.

Chief Conley says Al Capone will help in gathering evidence by sniffing out the odor of spent casings, firearms that have been fired, live rounds, magazines, gun oil, and smokeless powder found in most ammunition.

His breed is a Hungarian Vizslas and is part of the Pointer family commonly known as a German Shorthaired Pointer. The chief says when Al Capone is not working, he enjoys time at home with his handler and enjoys a good game of fetch.
