King cake thieves strike again! 100 king cakes stolen from King Cake Drive-Thru

“Most of these bakery relationships are personal – one is making our wedding cake and others are family friends," the owners said about the theft.

NEW ORLEANS — King cake thieves strike for a second time this Carnival season.

One hundred king cakes were stolen from the new King Cake Drive-Thru's van sometime Monday night.

“We started this business to support our local bakeries and create convenience for all that wanted the best cakes in NOLA,” said King Cake Drive Thru owners in a social media post.

“Most of these bakery relationships are personal – one is making our wedding cake and others are family friends.”

The owners say it happened in the Treme neighborhood. They also say they were planning to do a pop-up Tuesday in Meridian Mississippi.

This is the second reported king cake theft since last week when someone stole a stack of king cakes, alcohol, and cash from Bittersweet Confections on Magazine Street.

The owners say they will continue to sell king cakes but will be a little delayed as they repair their van. They will return to their Friday through Sunday 7 am – 7 pm schedule at 1009 Metairie Road.
