NEW ORLEANS — Accused of lying about her medical appointments to steal more than $300,000 in taxpayer money, a woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of Medicaid fraud, WBRZ reported
Christine Carmouche, 55, of Breaux Bridge was arrested for Medicaid fraud in an alleged scheme that went from June 2017 to May 2019.
An investigation by the attorney general's office uncovered the fraud after they found discrepancies in her records from three different Medicaid providers she worked with during that time.
Those three providers were Life Changing Solutions, A New Day Counseling, and Seaside Healthcare, WBRZ said in their report.
Carmouche's arrest record said she put down a "multitude" of appointments in her progress notes that overlapped with hours at her different workplaces.
Investigators said the mental health specialist had a total of 3,586 overlapping ours which earned her a total of $327,521.57 in fraudulent payments.
She was released on a $25,000 bond after she was booked into East Baton Rouge Prison on Tuesday.
