NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police say they are investigating a shooting in Central City.

It happened at about 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday in the 2300 block of South Prieur Street.

Initial NOPD reports show an adult male was shot at least one time. EMS arrived on the scene however police have not said what condition the man is in.

Few details are available as the investigation is ongoing.

This is the third shooting investigation to happen in one day.

Tuesday morning the NOPD reported a man was found dead in the 1900 block of N. Dorgenois near the intersection with Allen Street.

They found the unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk. NOPD said it is investigating the fatality as a homicide.

The second homicide happened around 3:20 p.m. in the Lower Ninth Ward.

Police say the unidentified victim died at the hospital after being shot at least once near the 1800 block of Lizardi Street.

These latest shootings come as state legislators are currently in a Legislative Special Session to pass bills aimed at wrangling crime rampant in Louisiana.

Many bills being considered focus on reducing violent crime that has plagued New Orleans. Some measures considered include a permanent Louisiana State Police station, deployment of state troopers in the city, and a bill that would increase sentencing for violent carjackings.
